Nokia is making another Android phone

Nokia's pretty much been lying low since Microsoft bought its mobile business then dropped the name from its Lumia phones, but a return is now imminent.

There have been rumors since last year that Nokia would re-enter the smartphone market with a new Android phone - its first in some time - and those rumors are confirmed.

Nokia's president in China, Mike Wang, said the company will use its Chinese factories to build new Android phones in 2016, reports G For Games.

We've asked Nokia to confirm it, but unless the site is way off-base this sounds like the real deal.

Given the focus on China Nokia could be looking to return to the Android market with some low-end or mid-tier devices, but we can only speculate on that front -- Wang revealed no further details.

We'll be watching for more word, and in the meantime we'll update this article if we receive confirmation from Nokia that it's really making Android phones for 2016.

SAP brings social sabbatical programme to India

PUNE: Enterprise software company SAP has announced the completion of the third round of its social sabbatical programme in India. Under this programme, a group of 12 SAP employees from China, USA, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Japan, Argentina and Dubai worked for one month on-site with four non-profit organizations and social ventures in Mumbai to help solve their pressing organizational challenges and set them up for sustainable growth.

SAP said its social sabbatical is one of the most cutting-edge initiatives for social engagement and leadership development for its top talents. As of 2014, the programme has activated 304,800 pro-bono service hours by 127 employees from 31 nations, serving 40 organizations worldwide.

A good 98% of client NGOs and social enterprises were satisfied or highly satisfied with the performance and results of the SAP social sabbatical teams; 97% would recommend SAP; and 70% implemented at least 80% of the recommendations delivered by the social sabbatical teams, the company said.

While in Mumbai, the SAP social sabbatical team has been working with Edubridge Learning, Mumbai Mobile Creches, Paaduks and UnLtd India to help them solve business challenges in the areas of expansion, administration, sales, marketing and controlling.

"Through the social sabbatical programme, SAP focuses on helping NGOs and social entrepreneurs to unlock their potential to create sustainable economic growth and social impact, and emerge as nation's growth engines" said Alicia Lenze, SAP global head of CSR.

Indian Railways Launches Android App to Book Unreserved Tickets

Rail commuters can now use a mobile app to obtain tickets in the unreserved category as the Indian Railways takes forward its initiative for paperless ticketing. A senior Railway Ministry official made the announcement on Tuesday, saying, "We are launching a mobile-based paperless unreserved ticketing application tomorrow." For Android training in Chennai

The app, called UTS, is now available via the Google Play store. It has been developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). Having booked a ticket using the app, a commuter need not take a print-out of the same and can show its soft copy on the cellphone to the TTE.

Apart from being a green initiative, the paperless ticketing system is also aimed at saving time for passengers as it allows them to avoid lining up at the ticket window.  After downloading the UTS app, users will receive a registration ID number for thhe creation of an electronic wallet. Money for buying tickets will have to be loaded through the e-wallet mobile payment system either online or at a ticket counter at any station.

Passengers have the option of topping up the e-wallet at ticket counters or on the IRCTC website using a credit or debit card, the official said.  Besides booking tickets, one can even renew season tickets using the UTS app, which the official said will be a great help for commuters in the unreserved ticketing segment.

The app-based ticketing system was tried out in the Mumbai suburban sector on a pilot basis. An version of the app for BlackBerry devices will be made available later.

New Jersey Big Data Alliance comes to Rowan University

Rowan University will host the New Jersey Big Data Alliance’s (NJBDA) second annual symposium on Wednesday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m in the Eynon Ballroom in the Student Center on the Glassboro campus. “Big Data and the Transformation of Society” will include a keynote address by Raymond Blum, Google’s “International Man of Mystery,” as well as panel discussions that delve into how Big Data (digital data) transforms transportation, healthcare and the workforce, as well as ramifications for privacy.

For Bigdata training in Chennai

“Rowan University is exceptionally suited to host this symposium, given our growing presence in the Big Data arena. With two medical schools and associated hospitals handling more than a one and a half million patient visits; nationally recognized programs in the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering; and the South Jersey Technology Park, home to the Virtual Reality Lab, we have a tremendous opportunity to develop personalized health care services that respond to the escalation in the amount of medical data collected from personal electronics,” said Rowan’s Dr. Shreekanth Mandayam, vice president for Research.

“Having a [Big Data Resource] portal that provides seamless access to public data sources, state-of-the-art data analytics tools, publications and other related information can be a tremendous resource for researchers, students and practitioners,” stated Dr. Manish Parashar, a Rutgers University New Brunswick NJBDA representative and professor of computer science who is currently seeking funding for the portal.

4 Ways Financial Institutions Can Bank On Big Data In 2015

A customer walks into the bank to make a deposit, greets the teller and, out of the blue, she’s asked if she would like a second mortgage. Is this any way to serve a valued customer? Not if she isn’t in the market for a second mortgage.
But what if she is?
It’s common practice for banks to widely advertise their low rates on mortgages, car loans and home equity lines of credit, hoping this buckshot approach will hit the right target. The risk is that a weary, oversold customer might take his or her money elsewhere. Big data is now taking the guesswork out of discerning which individuals are the best targets for a particular product.
